April 5 Senic HWY 64, NC
Joy riding day. Highway 64 had not been open out of Highlands before, but Dennis happened to read that it opened for Easter weekend. It was a beautifully sunny day. We passed by three waterfalls we had hiked and seen before and I thought Dennis would never pull over. However he found a great spot to take pictures. It was the Cullasaja River which starts in Highlands and feeds into the Tennessee River. 64 follows it down the mountain to Franklin. Temperatures are beginning to warm up but are still comfortable in the 70s.
Prior to this day we had been home buddies with the exception of meeting another full timing couple with a newly bought Tiffin rig. We shared experiences and information about our rigs and blogging. We even went to dinner with them at a now favorite pizza place Finity Pie (the symbol). Joe and Pam are outdoors people and enjoy fishing. They found a fish camp where they caught 6 fish and the people even cleaned them for a small fee. Trout fishing camp just up the mountain near Sky Valley.
We ended the night with a nice warm fire. It was smokie at first with the wet wood, but eventually dried out and burned. I plucked on my guitar, sipped my GnT then turned on some Celtic Mist guitar and dulcimer music. Birds in the trees and a cool evening breeze. I’ll sleep well tonight for sure.
