Across the continental divide through the Rio Grande NF

What a beautiful drive today! We drove through the Rio Grande National Forest and across the continental divide again. I couldn’t snap pictures fast enough to show you. The highway was made of switch backs steep climbs and downward treks. Dennis and Big Mona did very well. We were high enough to see snow next to the highway, beautiful waterfalls and a constant stream. We also saw llama and Buffalo and of course cattle. Mostly we saw farming fields with the water sprinklers that travel in a circle as the wet the ground.

Our campground is right next to the entrance to the gate for the Great Sand Dunes NP. I couldn’t figure out what people were lined up for at the store until I saw the sand boards for riding the dunes being rented and returned. We shall see if we do that. I’m not quite sure.

We are here for a week and there are no towns near by so we will be relaxing the taking lots of photos. And did I mention the sun set and the stars!  Oh, my. Beautiful.
