Canyons of the Ancients Museum

This museum offered a glimpse as to archeolgists methods and findings over time. We also enjoyed a short movie on the discoveries and another from related native Indians sharing their cultural similarities still today and the need not to destroy remnants nor pilfer artifacts. Take only pictures, leave only memories and respect the past residents.

Inside were displays of several artifacts from farming, hunting, and daily life. They even had a full sized remake of a family dwelling. Beyond that we learned about the different ancient groups that lived in the area and that as time moved on the different tribes and languages and governments they became. There were also hands on and interactive displays of the rocks, plants, and daily used materials. A very enjoyable experience.

Outside there was a half mile hike up the mountain with displays of plants, vista views of mountains and on top another uncovered Pueblo dwelling.  In addition a view of the reservoir that takes care of this area.
