June 14 Great Dunes visit

The camp ground is very simple. The first tier is for RVs, the second are little cabins, and the top is for tents. There is also a lodge here which I guess is like a hotel.

After a day of rest for Dennis we ventured into the visitors center. No masks required however a long line to get in. Only 12 people at a time could enter the small book store with a few exhibits.

Outside you can see all the groups going out to the dunes with their rented sleds. I’m not sure how they do that with kids because the temperature on the sand is so much hotter. Evidentially the sand can get up to 150 degrees. Not for me and certainly not for Dennis.

The view was so interesting with desert grass areas then the dunes 750 feet at their highest and the mountains behind. Sorry for all the poster shots but we thought the information was interesting.

We drove down to the creek but the parking lot was all ready full. We started too late. We decided to drive elsewhere in the park. Oops, turns out there was no where else to go unless you had 4 wheel drive.

The best part of the day is the sun set. Oh, my!
