Custer City Museum
I am sure I take way too many pictures, but Dennis and I love history and so another museum. This is a great collaboration of citizens sharing their family heirlooms and area history.
The building is the original courthouse from the 1800s and covered an eclectic assortment from gold rush to taxidermy and local artists and authors. There were three stories and additional buildings outside.
The big thing most relevant was that this weekend is the yearly Gold Discovery Days. They have parades, competitions, races, and a hot air balloon launch. I’d love to see the lay event, but I’m not sure I want to get up at 5:30am. Enjoy the pictures. This is a town of proud residents.
After the museum we walked the town Main Street. The usual souvenir shops but also local eateries (that close early) and several gem, fur, and antler and skull shops.
We at at a local spot The Custer Wolf. Sat outside in a small pet friendly patio. Cowboy caviar (corn salsa), Falafel burger, fish ‘n chips and two new beers for us. Friendly servers and good food.
